About the Event
This workshop will have you mingling with the native bees on Limestone Farm, learning their social life, hive structure, behaviour, habitat & life cycle.
Learn Bee husbandry practices > positioning & setting up a hive.
Demonstrations in splitting of hives, extraction of 'Sugar Bag' honey, hive maintenance and much more.
Understand how the bees are best utilised in agriculture, nature & our society.
Advice on a variety of native trees to grow for your stingless bees.
See Steve’s latest hive design for easier splitting and extraction.
Take in some Sugarbag (Honey) Tasting.
We also discuss the role of solitary native bees and the construction of solitary Bee hives.
This workshop is Wholefood Farm Fresh catered and includes a tour of Limestone Permaculture Farm to visit various hives.
