We offer simple techniques & strategies to help combat prolonged drought.
Topics (Hands On & Demonstration)
Session 1. ( 9am - 10:30am )
● Design & Planning for Drought on the Rural & Urban Homestead
● Homestead Water Analysis
Morning Tea 10:30 - 11am
Session 2. ( 11am - 1pm )
● Water Harvesting, Storage & Distribution
● Infrastructure (Tanks, Towers, Wicking beds etc)
● Passive watering (Grey Water, absorbtion terraces & pits)
● Frugal Irrigation systems (Gravity fed, low pressure)
● Windbreaks - protection of zones
Lunch 1pm - 1:30pm
Session 3. ( 2pm - 3:30pm )
● Reducing Evaporation with Trees, Canopy, Mulching & Shelterbelts
● Utilising 'Drought Hardy' plants & trees
● Other Drought Resilient stratergies
